There are so many little neighborhoods in Denver that I love, with the lower highlands being at the top of the list. But, I also love Larimer Square and watching the street get decorated several times of year with different banners. I wouldn’t say that The Ritz-Carlton Denver is right there in terms of location, but if you like walking it is a really nice walk to take. I recommend starting your morning with a mimosa, or two depending on how chilly it can be outside and enjoying the fresh air and small businesses.
This time of year, Larimer Square is decked up in Colorado spirit and tons of holiday spirit with all of the lights. By the time we got down to Larimer Square, we were a little warm but still quite chilly as the snow was arriving that afternoon. Tip* If you can smell the smell of manure, then you can safely assume it will snow that day. And, it did! If there was one thing we both wished for on this fall girl’s trip, it was that it would start snowing. Despite living in the snow for 5 years, I was fortunate enough to never have to shovel my driveway which is probably why I still love that it snows to this day.
We stopped by The Kitchen for lunch with Ali’s friend, Drew, and had a chance to warm up on some comfort food and naturally a glass of wine or two. I highly recommend the pasta bolognese and if you love a good hearty tomato soup, Ali swears by this soup. Make sure to request extra bread on the side, she says! From lunch, we headed back to The Rtiz-Carlton Denver, where we decided to stop by the club level and see what kind of snacks they were serving up there. Having just eaten, we were not quite as hungry, but tempted enough to get a couple of cookies and a glass of wine. We took advantage of our king size bed to snuggle up and watch some movies as we napped, yes napped, and had a chance to warm up for a bit.
I’d say we spent most of our time checking out the different new and existing eateries in Denver. They are so many little neighborhoods that I enjoy. I love South Pearl Street, in Denver, and love going there to check out the shops and eating at one of my all time favorite spots, Sushi Den. I also love the lower highlands and love grabbing a glass of wine and cheese plate at Truffle Table, and then stopping by Postino. If you head a little higher into the highlands, there are so many other cute little eateries, like Linger or Bar Dough. Aside from being in Denver, we took advantage of being in Colorado to go up to Boulder for a couple of nights.
Every year, I head to the Colorado rocky mountains for a week of fun-filled snow activities in Beaver Creek. It’s around the corner, and I can’t wait to be there!
