I wanted to take the time to elaborate a little bit more on this exciting journey that is to come for the first six months of the year-that being the bikini competition. I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to make this a part of “Something Dashing” as the blog focuses on fashion and travel but I decided that this show will heavily reflect on a challenge that I have set for myself for 2018, a commitment to myself and choosing a healthy lifestyle which are three things you can apply to yourself in one way or another. It doesn’t have to be committing to a show, like I’ve chosen but it could focusing on getting up a little earlier to take your dog for a longer walk (which I also need to do), or committing to drink at least a liter of water a day. Something big or small. I would say find at least one thing, big or small, that you can find yourself committing to this next year and something you can apply to your daily life.

I’ve been thinking about this competition for a little over a year, but I never really had the push to sign-up. About six months ago, a friend of mine suggested it and I thought maybe now is the time but I need more time to prep. As the days went by, I gave it more and more thought and I began to really look into it. I began to search, or shop, for coaches that would fit well for what I was looking for-meaning someone who could help with nutrition, workout plans, posing, and the other details that go along with a show. I am currently down to two coaches and after this weekend’s LA Fit Expo, I will have a better idea of who I decide to go with. I will keep you updated as the process goes.

Currently, I am following a gluten-free, dairy-free and sugar-free diet. I am doing my best to maintain an all sugar-free diet which includes natural sugars and fruits. I have struggled with IBS for the last 7 years of my life and I have visited many GI doctors who each have suggested different treatments, but none of which have stuck or worked for me. As I began to follow this new diet, I began to feel different in my tummy and I felt more energized all around. So far, this diet has changed the way that I feel for the best. I won’t lie and tell you that the first two weeks, I was craving an orange or something sweet. It was hard. It usually takes about two weeks to break a habit, typically depends on each person. There were a few instances I had to cave and have a slice or two of orange. But the purpose of changing our dieting lifestyles is not to constrict ourselves but to make changes that will lead us to living a better lifestyle. If that means you’re craving a smoothie, I say have it. Due to the lack of sugar in my diet, I find that my struggles with low blood sugar levels are higher, so sometimes I have a serving of semi-sweet chocolate chips. I believe there is about 7g of sugar per serving but they are dairy and gluten free. They’re so good! I don’t know if my coach will allow these but until then I will take full advantage!

Most preps are about 16-20 weeks depending on where your body falls. Despite the coach saying I could do a 16 week prep, I think that I would feel more comfortable knowing that I am doing a 20-week prep and allowing my body to change in a decent amount of time. The first part of the prep is to gain muscle (in other words bulking) and from there coach will help me cut, which means lose fat and lean out. These are all details that I will share when I get more info!

Our world revolves around being connected all of the time, checking our emails, checking our missed calls and in recent time checking how many steps we’ve taken and making sure we get 10,000 steps a day. As much as I love wearing my apple watch, sometimes I feel too connected. I was excited when I was introduced to the Fossil Q Hybrid Smartwatch, I felt a sense of connection but still living in real time. The Fossil smartwatch tracks both activity (steps, calories, distance) and sleep (awake, light and restful). It also allows you to track progress towards a person goal like drinking water or exercising. It’s best suited to track steps when walking, running or doing similar activities throughout the day. It also allows you to receive notifications for social media, text, email and any other important alerts you wish to receive. You receive a gentle buzz through Bluetooth technology when a notification or alert arrives.

I chose a neutral band for my Q Accomplice but I love that I can interchange my band with all 16mm watch straps allowing me to dress it up to go out or down to exercise. Hello Lovelies! It’s almost Christmas, can you all believe it? And in a matter of a few days after that it will be the New Year. I missed a couple of outfits posts last week as I was returning from a trip and then getting ready for my winter holiday. The winter holidays are my favorite time of the year. I love spending my days in a ski lodge, skiing and then apres-ski drinks. Prior to arriving in Beaver Creek, I was in Denver for a few short days spending time with my man. It felt like the shortest couple of days as he works during the day so I get to spend time with him after work is off. I spend a lot of time doing yoga that I thought I would share must have yoga apparel.  I go to yoga 3-4 times a week and if my schedule permits then I try to go more often. Six months ago, I became certified as a power yoga teacher at Corepower Yoga. Two weeks ago, I became certified as a pre and post natal yoga instructor from Yogaworks. You’re probably thinking well now you’re certified, what are you going to do about it? Well, for a long time and I am still nervous to teach but lately more often than not, I have had dreams of me teaching and I have been inspired to teach. For me, yoga gives me piece of mind, it is a place where my mind and body are on the mat and my thoughts stay off the mat. It is a place where I feel most grounded and calm. With that, I love staying up to date on my yoga apparel and still looking trendy while I practice. One of my favorite pairs of pants are the ones pictured. They are Beyond Yoga and they are so soft, you could literally stay in them all day and not to mention the mesh makes it a little sexy. I tend to struggle with finding tops that I really like but the one pictured has so far been one of my favorite that Lululemon has made. With the ladies who have bigger boobs, it is a nice top that doesn’t seem to suffocate you for lack of better words. You can wear a sports bra under or not and the top still gives you definition. Another cute top that is so perfect for hot yoga (as it allows for breathing) is this tank. How cute is that back?  As far as sports bra, I tend to lean towards a bra that is cute but still gives me adequate support. I love the energy bra that Lululemon makes and they come in a variety of colors too. I recommend checking out this sports bra from Beyond Yoga, which makes for a cute top if you choose to not wear a tank. I am totally in love with this jacket. For those of you live in colder weather, this jacket would be perfect for you and even though I don’t live in cold weather it’s totally on my bucket list. I could definitely shop for yoga and athletic wear just as much as I do shop for normal clothes. My biggest weakness are leggings, there’s always a fun new pair that you just have to have.
