Hi friends! It’s good to be back home for a little bit and back on the work grind. I was supposed to travel this weekend but with family coming in, I just wanted a little me time before heading out next week for work. I’ve got so much going on in my personal life that a weekend at home with my roommate and family is what I am looking most forward to. Thinking about maybe even going to a local winery, anyone know of any that are worth checking out?

I wore this look in Denver last week and I am completely in love with it. Ever have one of those outfits you just want to wear on repeat because you think no one saw it or it’s just worth being worn that many more times? This outfit is IT. I had been eyeing these distressed jeans for awhile and when I mean awhile they have been sitting in my cart for a few months. These are my first pair of Current/Elliott and so far I am loving them. They are so comfortable and form fitting. I sneaked into Neiman Marcus and as I walked by Alice & Olivia, I fell in love with this beautiful lace top. It’s lightweight and perfect for spring. A cute alternative to the Alice & Olivia lace blouse is this blouse, just as cute and perfect for spring. Looking for something a little dressier? Naturally, I went along with the rockstud look and it turned out so perfectly. Secretly, looking forward to wearing this look many times over to dinners and date nights (keep an eye out!).

So, I love a sweater that has some fun detail to it. I have been obsessed with this elbow patch sweater from Burberry (on sale here in a large for under $200) and wanting one in just about every color. I don’t usually steer towards the camel color but lately I have on a camel color kick, have you noticed? This sweater is perfect for attending work meetings then going to happy hour and even jumping over to dinner. Not to mention, it is lightweight and so perfect for these dreamy summer nights we have been having as we ease into spring. I paired my lightweight sweater with some rockstud suede booties (also love these and these) and a rockstud clutch (or this envelope clutch) in the same color tone. To top the look off, a red lip added just the right amount of color to the outfit.

I am focusing today’s post on the work & life balance. This is such an important topic for all of us as we tend to overcompensate in one area and not give enough attention to another area. Aside from blogging, I am a full-time career in real estate development (very much different from blogging), I keep an active lifestyle and manage to keep a social calendar with my friends. Sometimes I ask myself how I can keep it all together. I am very fortunate to work with my family and therefore they allow me to have a flexible schedule still putting in my hard work. I try to work out early mornings before heading to work, sometimes that doesn’t always pan out the way I intend for it to. If morning workouts don’t happen, then afternoon workouts occur and manage to get home at a reasonable hour to have dinner and work on my blog. Oh, and super helpful to carry your gym bag in your trunk! I find it important to find a routine that works with your schedule and trying to not stir away from your routine. Of course, we all have those happy hours that are planned at the very last minute. Sometimes you will miss a workout but knowing that’s ok and not beating yourself up over it is so important. It’s important to do everything in moderation and to ensure that you are happy with what you decide.

Girls Night Out

Hi Friends! I know it’s been awhile since I have posted an outfit. I’m sorry about being a little bit gone the past couple of weeks. I have had some personal things to take care of and work has picked up and have had to do a little of travel for work.

I am looking forward to the next few weeks as I have some travel plans arranged for almost every weekend for the month of March. By the way, I can’t believe we are heading into the month of March, it seemed like just a few days ago we were talking about Christmas and New Years and here we are almost talking about June.

I spent the first few weeks of January moving into my new home and decorating realizing I needed some time to myself and friends. My best friend from Denver decided it was the perfect opportunity to come out for a visit to LA (not to mention it was her first time!). We did so much in just three days that by Sunday, we really just needed a day to get brunch and enjoy the new home living room. Before last weekend, I don’t think I had seen her in about a year! Crazy, right? But you know that feeling when you just see someone you haven’t seen but everything is completely normal? That was us.

On Friday, we went skydiving…yep we jumped out of a tiny little plane (that I thought was out of order) from 10,000 feet right into a free fall. It was insane but incredible. I would do it again. I was incredibly nervous the whole plane ride up until jumping out (no kidding, I was ready to back out). By the time the instructor was telling me to put my feet out on the little pedestal, I panicked and in a second we were out of the plane free falling. As much as the free fall was scary, it was exhilarating and I wanted it to last longer.

By evening, we decided to get dinner in West Hollywood at Laurel Hardware for a girls night out. If you live here or just visiting, I encourage you to put it on your restaurant list. We shared the hamachi, the sea bass and brussel sprouts. It was the perfect amount. Naturally, when going out I love dressing up and any excuse to wear heels. I love a little way to add some sparkle with beaded shoulder pads or a beaded collar. My top is currently sold out but I also love this beaded collar (on sale) or this black beaded blouse (on sale). With a beaded top all you’re missing is a skirt with a little flounce like this all black skirt or this one is similar to the one I am wearing. Since I was wearing all black, I found it to be appropriate to add a pop of color and none other than some pink in my favorite YSL clutch. I have been crushing all over this Ted Baker clutch or this faux snakeskin clutch and not mention this Kate Spade kite clutch is the perfect statement bag.

HI Friends!

I am still in the middle of settling into my new house. I finally got my sofa delivered, which was really exciting since now we can sit somewhere other than the floor or my bed. It’s slowly coming together, but like with anything–good things take time! Once things start to settle, I will share some photos. In the meantime, work has been quite busy and I have been doing this Orange Theory Fitness Challenge, which has consumed a lot of my time and energy. It’s such a killer workout but also such a hard one! Have you tried it? I’m also regularly doing hot yoga. I love the hot aspect of it especially when I feel like I have so much going on.

It’s been quite warm the last few days in LA. We had a few weeks of winter in LA and then the sun decided to come back and give us some high 70’s weather. With this weather, I can’t help but to find myself on the beach soaking in all the sun and drinking a pina colada. This might just be me planning my next trip. But on the other hand, I am enjoying winter. We are expecting cooler temperatures this weekend and some rain. I would take the snow over the rain any day. The rain makes everything much more difficult.

We’re still early enough in the snow season that you can plan a trip to go skiing, snowboarding, or lounging. There are so many airfare deals going on right now, that it is the perfect time to book a trip (even if you decide you want a beach vacation). I found airfare going to Denver for $100 roundtrip! If you’re planning your winter getaway, it’s important to plan for the right weather meaning you definitely want to get the right coat. I like having options when I go to the snow meaning I like my long puffer (this one and this one), or the short and casual puffer and then a furry coat for evenings and going out. There are so many different kinds of jackets that will ultimately help you fight the cold, but I would highly recommend a wind proof, water resistant puffer. It makes all of the difference and you can easily find really cute ones! Cozy up with a cute sweater under your puffer like this one (on sale and pink under $90), this cashmere halogen sweater is so comfortable and comes in so many colors (also on sale under $50) and always love a Rag & Bone sweater and this one happens to be on sale. It’s so important to find the right boots as well, you definitely don’t want your feet to freeze or start to tingle because you can’t feel them. I love these boots for going to dinner (not walking in much snow), they are super cute and a much cheaper version (under $100) of the Stuart Weitzman 50/50 boots. If you’re looking for something more upscale, the boots I am wearing keep my feet warm and the rubber sole make it easy for me to walk in any level of snow. Grab your beanie, your gloves, bucket bag (under $60) and you’ll be ready to conquer the cold on your way to dinner. I’m about ready to grab all those items and put them in my suitcase and book that Denver ticket myself!

Staying warm

I’ve spent my first whole weekend at my new place this weekend, really taking a moment to relax and spend time with friends. Oh not to mention, watching the amazing win of the Broncos! Yay for the Broncos! I have so much furniture shopping to do and decor shopping. It is definitely my favorite part of moving into a new place. This is the first time where I am moving into a place that is mine & that I can fully decorate on my own and more so get pieces I know my college friends won’t destroy. It’s actually been pretty funny having some friends over since I don’t have a couch yet, the only place to sit is the floor or my bed.

It’s been a bit chillier than most people would think for LA but not quite as cold as it has been in Colorado or other parts of the country. I yearn for the next time that I can wear my puffer coats. Hint hint…planning my next trip to Colorado and thinking of planning a trip to New York. I have gone through several different puffer coats trying to find ones that keep me warm without having to wear 5 million layers underneath. I absolutely love the one that I’m featuring in today’s blog post that was given to me as a gift or I also have my North Face (on sale under $220) from college, which kept me warm through the coldest of blizzards. If you like the faux fur hoodie, this North Face is similar to the Moncler and currently 25% off. Not only is the importance of keeping your body warm important, but so is keeping your ears, hands and feet warm. It’s so important that my ears stay warm or they begin to hurt due to the cold weather (and that’s not pleasant!). I don’t know about you but I have been on the turtleneck trend for a little while and now that I am seeing more of them in storefront, I’m looking forward to seeing more of them this winter. I’ve had a few people comment on my lip color and wanted to share with you what kind of lipsticks I use. The beautiful red in the photos from today’s post are Lancome, and they are amazing! Seriously, such great quality and they last long.

I have some exciting news to share with all of you. It’s been in the works for a few months now but I am finally ready to share with you. Something Dashing is almost a year old and with that and the fact that I have decided to continue to work on the blog, I decided it was time for the blog to get a makeover. In November, I hired Harper Maven Design and started to work with Tori. She has been so easy to work with and communicative. She has been able to make my vision a reality and it’s all starting to become real. I am so excited for the future of Something Dashing and to show you all the blog’s new image really soon.
